italy twenty-thirteen | trastevere

trastevere is the quaint, eclectic part of rome near the vatican and not too far from the city centre.
we spent the entire evening wandering through it's streets,
walking along the tiber river & browsing tables of hand-crafted goods.
aunt laura and i have dreamed & talked for years about how wonderful it
would be to enjoy italy together. she got to go two years ago with my uncle and we
talked about it for months afterwards... pouring over hundreds of her images.
but never did we think we would have the opportunity to go together and then, we did!
i kept wanting to pinch myself over & over that first day to see if this was real life!
long after our bellies had begun to rumble,
we settled in some outdoor seats at restaurant and ordered pear & honey bruschetta,
grilled broccoli & homemade sausage and a glass of wine to wash it all down.
absolutely delish! then we made a detour on the way home for some gelato.
this soon became a nightly ritual.
dinner at 10 followed (or sometimes preceded!) by gelato or sorbetto. mmmm.
up next >> morning walk + campo de fiori
