I was browsing through old, old blog entries today and came across so many memories. There used to be a time where I would simply pick up my camera and start snapping photos of whatever caught my eye- not bothering to move things or style them perfectly, but capturing them just as they were. It was a practice that stopped time and told the story simply by recording what I saw. These images may not mean much to someone on the outside looking in but I’ve realized what a gift I gave to myself (and those in my life) by making time to capture those raw moments several years ago. A lot of significant moments have taken place in my life the last few years and I have very few written or photographed tokens to help me remember it all. I want to change that moving forward. And not only does it serve as a online scrapbook of sorts, it also inspires me in many ways. i came across some photos i snapped of our home last fall. my favorite thing about this house is the light. so many windows!

i know i've said it many times, but being with people i love & gathering them  around a table to nourish them with food & conversation makes my heart so full! this little dinner was rather last minute but sometimes those are the best ones!  it was a united effort as we spread the table, prepared summer dishes & prayed the rain away:)   maybe it seems silly and just adds to the work load to carry tables & chairs & dishes & food  all the way outside just so we can eat together under the twinkle lights… but to me, it's so much more than that.  it's the community that takes place when we work together to make a dinner happen & the collaboration  of many ideas as we discuss how things should be placed or what toppings should go on the salad.  it gives us an opportunity to build & create together and then fully enjoy the work of our hands  as we delve into the flavors of the season-- sharing storie...
