London Street Fashion | part two

I am so excited to share these street fashion posts with you!! 

As soon as I heard I would be spending a few days in London, I knew I wanted to capture some of the street fashion. Originally I though I'd use the approach of stopping people on the street & asking them if I could photograph them. And I did that with my first shot. But then I realized that with our time crunch, I'd have to do something different because we couldn't be stopping for a few minutes every time I wanted a picture of someone! So I resorted to shooting as I walked {often from the hip--excuse the crazy angles!} and from the top of the buses. Those buses were awesome because I could take pictures of anyone I saw on the street -point blank- and they wouldn't even know! 

London fashion is very classy for the most part. You don't see a whole lot of artistic runway fashion like you would in Paris but often times, people's black coats hide anything spectacular they are wearing. Londoner's wear a lot of black & navy so you have to keep your eyes peeled to capture interesting clothes.

You can spot a tourist a mile away because they are typically wearing jeans, a hoodie & tennis shoes. {Converse don't count} Please, if you ever go to London, promise me you won't wear those three together! You can be comfy & *still* look classy! Some of the people I photographed were tourists who mostly didn't look the part {kudos to them!}. {okay. i'm stepping over my self here. obviously, if you're a tourist, you'll almost always look like one-- c'mon, we're going to see all the sites and taking lots of pictures!-- but the key is dressing in something casual that is still nice. i think you get my drift:)}

Most of the men we saw wore super classy, tailored suits paired with smart shoes & shades. On colder days, a scarf and/or overcoat were added to this ensemble. London is a business city so business men {and women} are everywhere, making up a majority of the people we saw on the street.

Going for a more casual look- jeans paired with a t-shirt/button-up & sweater or blazer were most common. Boots, dress shoes & white converse were often the shoes of choice. 

Accessories like scarves, sunglasses & hats were everywhere and most men carried either a briefcase or backpack. 

Leather coats & down coats {I call them "puff" coats} were common as well.

The ladies covered a little broader range of styles but a few major trends we saw were:

leopard print leggings in various colors

oxford flats

large military green cargo jackets

camel & black dressy coordinates

white converse

over the knee boots

leather separates

trench coats

Audrey Hepburn crops

wrap, "puff" & leather coats

Accessories varied in style for the ladies but a good purse or tote bag was a must.
