Instagrams

Seeing as I don't have a iPhone {or any other smartphone for that matter} I haven't joined the instagram world... but I've so enjoyed admiring everyone elses collections. As a photographer there's always pressure to be perfect with all of your pictures... the right lighting, composition, framing, etc... but I hate sticking to that. Who wants to be perfect all the time anyway? I guess it just comes back to learning and knowing the rules before you break them. But there's just something marvelous about the perfectly imperfect photos that give a simple round up of your day to day life.  I keep seeing so many awesome ideas for saving these sweet & funky little collections-- they look like they'd be so much fun to try! So do you use instagram {or the likes} and have you tried any of these ideas?!

    Did you go to the 4-H building at the fair? they had a lamp made out of cameras with a lamp shade made out of slides! Whoever made it could totally sell it.

Amalfi Coast | Positano, Italy

Maybe you're like me and this scene always made you think of Cinque Terre on the northern coast of Italy but little did I know that Positano is THE dreamy, colorful cliff scape of the Italian Coast! We skipped the Hike of the Gods this day and instead spent hours exploring Positano's little alleyways and that was truly the best decision! Even though it was very overcast, the colors were still evident at every turn. One thing I've noticed as a photographer is that the majority of images we view when we google places like Positano or Cinque Terre have been edited dramatically to make them seem more vibrant and the colors more saturated. If you've viewed those images prior to actually visiting the location, reality can feel a little dull. So I've done my best to portray colors as I actually saw them-- still incredibly beautiful yet more true to the faded and unwashed hues we witnessed in person. i'm so excited to be bringing a bit of spain to the blog over the coming weeks! since we did quite a bit of moving around while there, i've split the blog posts up by city (and sometimes there will be more than one post per city depending on how long we were there). i'll also do my best to link them to each other in case you miss one or want to go back and see it again! typically when traveling i pull my camera out during the day when we're walking around town and put it away at night when we're hanging out, exploring or going any place special... but every once in a while you'll see some night photos mixed into these posts! oh and i should clear the air now >> jonathan (johann) is my younger brother- not boyfriend:) we've had a lot of confused questions concerning that! he's currently living in rome and so last fall we started throwing around the idea of me meeting up with him somewhere in europe for a little bit. those initial conversations q...
