a beautiful little 50mm 1.4 f/ lens<3
'bout time I had a bit of 50mm magic in my pocket. i decided to hold off on the 1.2 f/ and invest in other things for the time being, so i get to become best friends with the 1.4 f/!!
i've just shot around with it a bit this afternoon but i can't wait to try it out on a shoot this evening!
so far:
for a girl who loves to shoot *wide open*- lenses like this are dreams to use!
on that note: the bokeh is gawgous, darlin'!
white balance is something i don't typically go manual with for everyday shooting unless i'm working with large expanses of whites, very vibrant colors in bright sun, etc. but i can tell already that i'll have to be more careful about that when i use this lens. in soft, perfect light on auto w/b, it tends to have a greenish/yellow pukey cast which isn't pretty at all! makin' sure to fix that in-camera right away!
it vignettes a bit more than i'm used to. i'm not crazy about that but it's workable.
the way it captures & takes advantage of available light literally made me dance!!
focus points are gonna keep me on my toes even more than usual now so I don't end up with pictures like this- with one eye sharp & one soft -straight on.
