Holiday Tutorial: Hot Chocolate Spoons

These are super-duper quick {except for the hardening part!} & easy {though maybe a little messier with little ones involved} and make fabulous gifts. {Did I just completely contradict myself?! haha}
Pair with a mug & some hot cocoa mix to give to teachers, co-workers, friends... or even make a set for a family!

Materials needed:

semi-sweet or dark chocolate chips melted {about 1/2 cup made 7 spoons}
white chocolate chips melted {about 1/2 cup made 7 spoons}
candy canes or mints crushed
mini marshmallows
candy sprinkles
roughly 14 plastic spoons
wax paper

You'll also need:
cellophane, saran wrap or clear plastic bags
ribbon or string

1} There are many methods of  melting chocolate. Typically I use the microwave at 50% power, going in 30-60 second increments, stirring in between, until melted.
2} Once your chocolate is melted, take one spoon at a time and "scoop" chocolate onto it. Use a spare spoon to smooth off the excess and coat the back. Lay on wax paper.

3} Now here's the fun part!! Add your toppings!! We used just what we had but I can totally see you getting creative with this and using different candies & such!

4} Once all of your spoons have been "decorated", let them sit until completely set.
I found that the white chocolate set very quickly {maybe an hour?} but the semi-sweet took much longer to set {at least 2 hours}.
If you need to quick freeze them you can do that too-- but I find that when semi-sweet has been melted & then frozen again... once set out at room temperature it melts quickly.
 You want these to store well at room temp.
5} When completely set, wrap individually with cellophane or saran wrap and tie with ribbon.
Then give as a gift or pull one out to stir your hot cocoa next time you enjoy a mug!
Inspiration for this project came from Crate & Barrel's Peppermint Spoons
