italy twenty-thirteen | san elena

of all the images i took while in italy, this is my absolute favorite set.
thanks to the groom's hospitable family,
we stayed in a flat in one of their family apartment buildings in San Elena.
this part of the main island was purely residential and the
quite, empty streets were so beautiful!
after the overwhelming tourism in rome & the main canal
in venice, we found it really restful to stroll at our leisure
 past colorful homes & canals.
the breeze was cool and here & there we heard
snatches of conversation drifting out of the open windows.
i fell in love with the unique doors, quirky windows,
vibrant walls & window plants.
we wound our way through Arsenale to reach the coast,
stopping for a bite of lunch before boarding the vaporetto (water bus) to Morano Island.

up next: Morano > the island of Venetian Glass
