alora had been planning a trip to nyc since last year so when it was unfortunately cancelled and i found out she was coming to visit me instead, i suggested we do a weekend trip to chicago for some big city feels:) my cousins chrissi & jan were incredibly gracious to let us stay with them and despite sickness/allergies going around, it was a lovely visit!
as much as i love the heart of a city, i love the little city neighborhoods even better… and thankfully so does alora! so on saturday we explored lake view, buck town & wicker park for most of the day. i've spent time in those areas twice before and felt i had seen most of what there was to see but this time there were so many new shops & restaurants that i felt like i was in a new neighborhood!
we swung downtown quickly so she could say she's seen "the bean" and other chicago sights and then we took the long bus back to lake view for dinner. it was a perfect spring day and the neighborhoods were alive with people! we had plenty of quirky moments and despite having no plan for the day or smartphones, we stumbled upon the best places!
here's a quick list of restaurants/cafes we stopped at + another quick list of great places i've visited on past trips:)
other lake view/wicker park/wrigleyville suggestions:
covo gyro market
Oooh, I ,love these. Makes the city-loving part of my soul happy!
