// beautiful eulogy //

josh garrels has been my favorite music artist for a few years now and i got to hear him live twice which was phenomenal (here &  here). sometime last year, through him, i first heard about the trio, beautiful eulogy. even though i spend the majority of my time in the 'hood, rap still hasn't become my music of choice… but through these guys and my attempt to get back into a regular running routine, i've found that i can appreciate it in good doses:) i saw last minute that beautiful eulogy was going to be in indy so ellyn and i made a sister date night of it and went to see them live. they were opened by 6 way st. & givens who both held their own… but b.e. was definitely best of all. and my favorite part was the fact that one of the guys spent a solid 20 minutes sharing the most beautiful explanation of the gospel i've ever heard before closing out the concert with one last song. so good.

Amalfi Coast | Positano, Italy

Maybe you're like me and this scene always made you think of Cinque Terre on the northern coast of Italy but little did I know that Positano is THE dreamy, colorful cliff scape of the Italian Coast! We skipped the Hike of the Gods this day and instead spent hours exploring Positano's little alleyways and that was truly the best decision! Even though it was very overcast, the colors were still evident at every turn. One thing I've noticed as a photographer is that the majority of images we view when we google places like Positano or Cinque Terre have been edited dramatically to make them seem more vibrant and the colors more saturated. If you've viewed those images prior to actually visiting the location, reality can feel a little dull. So I've done my best to portray colors as I actually saw them-- still incredibly beautiful yet more true to the faded and unwashed hues we witnessed in person. Amalfi Coast // Ravello

Ravello was certainly the quietest Amalfi town we visited. While many of the coastal villages are at sea level, Ravello is set above the Tyrrhenian Sea.  The 13th-century, Moorish style Villa Rufolo offers almost panoramic views of the sea and surrounding terraced gardens. During the summer it hosts popular indoor and outdoor concerts. In addition to its beautiful gardens, my favorite piece about it was the varied tiled floors indoors! So many different patterns! We also toured Villa Cimbrone which is another medieval style estate perched up above the sea with gorgeous gardens. At one point, I wandered off on my own and was using maps to get back to the center of town... but I totally forgot in reading the map that we were on a mountain! So I ended up halfway down the mountain before I realized I was definitely not going to reach the village center that way.
