mother's day was super muggy this year… the air thick with impending rain showers. we spent the entire afternoon of the day before cleaning out gardens, planting new flowers & mulching the flower beds for mama so we were eager for the rains to water all of the new plantings.
on sunday, we came home after church, grilled some burgers & enjoyed lunch on the deck-- our favorite place when it's warm. the rain didn't wait very long & by the end of our meal, the heavens had opened to wash the layers of pollen & dust away. so instead of spending the afternoon playing in the yard, we gathered on the deck with books to read & projects to work on.
the older i get, the more i realize how much mama does for us and what huge shoes i'll be filling someday when i have my own family. as if giving birth to 10 of us wasn't enough, she is so selfless in all of her serving and always looking for ways to keep us healthy & encouraged. even when we overlook things on our to-do lists, forget about appointments, neglect our own welfare & run around like crazy people, she sticks vitamins, protein bars & waters in our bags as we run out the door and showers us with love. i'm grateful to have a mama who also points me back to scripture & speaks truth into my life!
