adventures.fulfilled | vol. 3, part 2 | Charlevoix, MI

oh Charlevoix! I had heard so much about you via close friends who visit you every year but never did I dream I'd be visiting you as well!! When we found out you were the next town West of where we'd be staying, you secured a spot on our weeklong schedule right away!
Tuesday we set out to explore and discover your nooks and cranies. Since there are so many of us and it really isn't conventional to visit so many of your small shops with a large group, we broke off into smaller groups and pairs for the day. Analiese was my little touring buddy and loved every minute of our exploration in her new Charlevoix sweatshirt! :D
You definitely lived up to our high expectations! We found everything relaxing, classy and beautiful. The water was such gorgeous shades of green and blue... the marina seemed like it could tell so many stories of grand adventure... the shops and galleries were just what you would expect to find in a lake town... the samples delicious... and the lake front park most lovely. You aren't named "Charlevoix the Beautiful" for nothing!
Just a peek down the tree & flower lined street!
Everything CHERRY!!! and *lots* of samples!!!

 A shop selling handmade/good.for.you soaps
Love nautical doors!
Wish I'd had time to sit here a while-- it looked like an awesome locals coffee spot

This is the most random name for an alley in this town! I'd love to know the meaning behind it!
We met up with some of the rest of the family for a bit before heading off on more grand adventures!
Consign Design {or was it vise versa?!} The best little shop in Charlevoix!
Passed up these babies--- a Christian Dior hat for $20 and an awesome yellow tea canister for $12
Found Elisabeth in this store!

Lakeside and channelside resorts.... and the Charlevoix beach!
Loved watching the draw bridge which opened every half hour!
Walking down the channel to the end of the pier and wide open Lake Michigan!

 WINDY!!!

the beach!! I'll take any excuse to go barefoot!
Gorgeous water!!! I was amazed at the colors!! Totally didn't expect that on the lake!

 More drawbridge watching!!
Mettlers-- such a cool little shop. Definitely makes you think American.Steve McQueen.jockys.popped collars.horse racing.apple pie.Ralph Lauren.preppy.authentic.leather
It wouldn't be Charlevoix without little French shops!

 Stately and beautiful marina!
At the end of the day, we met up with the rest of the clan at the Charlevoix park on the marina.

The lovely marina again:)

{Later on in the week a few of us drove through Charlevoix again to find Friske Orchard and cherries}
They were having a car show in Charlevoix-- since we couldn't stop, I snapped a few photos through the window. The bottom blurred shot has become one of my all time favorite bokeh images!

 Loved Friske orchard!

There was the tiniest little chapel I have ever seen right across the street from the orchard!

p.s. It just so happens that as I finally get this posted, it's the very weekend our friends are there, in Charlevoix!! So here's a shout-out to them!! <3
