Portugal 2025 | Evora

Our next stop in Portugal was Évora, the capital of the south-central Alentejo region. It's a UNESCO World Heritage site with over 2,000 years of history and is located only 90 minutes from Lisbon. It's full of iconic Roman ruins and architecture including a 12th-century Gothic cathedral and the Chapel of Bones but we also discovered a little Moorish architecture as well. Many of the buildings within the walls of the old city are white washed and trimmed with traditional yellow- the iconic look of Évora. Being so far south, it's usually one of the hottest Portuguese cities in the summer but with our visit during the spring, we had balmy, overcast skies and temps.
It was really sleepy while we were there, thanks to being off-season, which made the quiet streets easier to meander through. Lots of striped pottery, woven rugs and Portuguese olive oil made it into our luggage from the little shops!
