// life & life abundant //

as with any trip that's drawing to a close, the last few days in rwanda were very bittersweet. we had picked up on bits and pieces of the language which brought huge smiles to faces when we used it. but there was a little bit of weightiness in our hearts as we thought back over all that we had been exposed to and contemplated what it would look like to apply things we had learned once we were home in the states. when you've been ushered in to take part of the established community in a place, it's so hard to pull away!
on our last day in musanze, alphonse drove us to the top of a mountain village that overlooks one of the huge lakes. there are places where you can stand in the middle of the road and look out on either side to see the ground dropping away to water far below. even more amazing than the view is the fact that all of the land is farmed, even if it means people almost laying against the side of the incline to do it. they were building a new library in the village and we had the opportunity to share in the labor all day while we got to know many of the students. the atmosphere was lively and we spent a lot of time joking, singing and sharing stories. even alphonse (our driver) jumped in on the action!

the next day we woke up and drove back down to the hot and bustling city of kigali to wrap up our time in rwanda before catching our flight home. we saw our friend adia again and ate some delicious burritos at meze fresh. hard as it was to leave, i think we held a sense of eagerness to get back to memphis and continue living out the Gospel with a new passion in our hearts!
