// birmingham, al //

the alabama wedding wasn't actually in birmingham but grace & i were going to be too close not to stop for a quick visit so we rolled into town and headed straight for the arlington antebellum home. we arrived just after they closed tours for the day (boo) but still got to roam the gorgeous grounds and peek in the windows! both grace and i were excited about how hot it was after coming from chilly indy! we did a little antiquing on second ave in bham before driving to the little neighborhood of crest line/mountain brook for dinner at urban cookhouse. we explored a greenhouse and played a game of life-size chess (which i lost horribly, despite being the ultimate homeschooler and belonging to a chess club back in the day!) before driving up to the vulcan statue to watch a gorgeous sunset over birmingham. this was one of those sunsets that kept changing hues every few minutes-- absolutely stunning! and they were truly as vibrant as the images below, i did my best not to edit them!
from there, we drove to our hotel with the windows down, music up and a blanket of stars above our heads:) perfect ending to a wonderful day!
