when you love people a lot & don't get to see them very often, you'll sometimes go where they are going just to be with them... and then find out that you actually like it too! i've lived in indiana for 8 years and have never had a desire to attend the indy 500 race. but then one by one 4 of our friends got jobs in the racing scene through the dellara indy car company. so when race time came around this year, we all decided to go together! it was admittedly not my first choice of ways to spend a sunday but it turned out to be so much fun and i loved getting to spend more time with this crew! the tillman family was incredibly gracious as always and hosted us all at their camper for breakfast & dinner that day & then had us all down to the lake that evening.
after the race, we all ran home to grab overnight camping stuff & then regrouped to drive down to b-town. we made a pit-stop for groceries & i got my first lesson in driving stick-shift from pat:) i *cough*letitdie*cough several times… but in my defense, it was on a hill for a few of them:) haha that evening we sat around the campfire and performed skits for each other before stargazing on the boat & slinging up hammocks to camp.
memorial day we were up first thing and went for a morning cruise on the quiet lake before eating breakfast prepared by grandma herndon. then we spent the rest of the day on the water, soaking up precious time with each other! i'm really truly grateful for this family of friends who welcomed me so well into their midst 2 years ago and have been encouraging my life ever since! we are a community of world changers because we have the Lord on our side and i'm confident that as much as we'll miss one another this fall, our scattering is going to be used for His glory!
