i'm a hard copy kinda girl- all the way.
i have a difficult time merely purchasing an album on iTunes... or just subscribing to a magazine online.
and now two of my favorite magazines {seen here & here} are in online reading format only. seems like they are converting to that medium more and more. no physical copy i can touch, flip through, cut & paste from or loan to a friend. books too.
even with the internet, email, facebook, skype, chat, phone... everything instant. i still write letters. loooong letters. 15 page letters. *laughs* and receiving them is even better. 'cause when it comes down to it, nothing replaces something handwritten & from the heart that brings the scent of someone closer. {you took the time to write that for me?!} so precious.
and i also still write up rough drafts for blog posts occasionally {like i am now} before typing them into a post and sharing them. there's less distraction... and something about seeing my thoughts in *my* handwriting makes them seem more my thoughts than seeing *my* thoughts typed up in some commonplace font.
i know it's all about saving money & having less waste & all. and it is a great idea... for things like bills... {that we want to see so little of anyway, right?!! haha}
but for music: i'll take that cd/hard copy album, please & thank you.
and that magazine with such lovely imagery: swiping my finger just doesn't seem to give the same pleasurable feeling of suspense {what does the next page hold?!} as that of turning the page & hearing it's soft crackle and whisper.
and those books: i do so love my little library of books lovingly worn by so many hands
and that sweet note that i'll treasure forever: the handwritten version will always remind me even more of sender
and blog posts: well, maybe i just need to move on with that one!
so even as i love technology-- i am a bit old fashioned. let's not be content to let these hold.in.your.hand, physical copies die!
xoxo
{p.s. what's your take on this topic?!}
